Thank you for using the Šanon app. By launching the app you agree to these terms.
1. What Šanon is
Šanon is an iOS app for encrypted storage of family documents. It runs in BYO-iCloud mode — it uses your iCloud account and your API key for the chosen AI provider. The operator does not run its own backend, holds no user data and has no access to your vault.
2. Your responsibility
- Family password — the password set during onboarding is the only user-known
information Šanon uses to derive keys. If you forget it and simultaneously lose every device,
your data is unrecoverable. We recommend:
- Storing the Emergency Kit PDF in a safe offline place (print, safe, encrypted disk).
- Having more than one family member — the built-in Family Approval recovery (V2) will then be possible.
- API keys to Claude / OpenAI / Gemini are yours. The cost of AI extraction is on your account with that provider.
- iCloud quota — encrypted document backups use your iCloud storage. Šanon itself does not charge for storage.
3. What Šanon guarantees
- End-to-end encryption using Apple CryptoKit (ChaCha20-Poly1305, X25519, HKDF-SHA256) and libsodium (Argon2id). Keys never leave your device in plaintext.
- No-server architecture — there is no central server that could be compromised.
4. What Šanon does NOT guarantee
- Cloud service availability — if Apple iCloud / Anthropic API / OpenAI API reports an outage, the corresponding features do not work.
- Error-free AI extraction — categories and expiry dates suggested by AI are suggestions. For critical documents (contracts, medical records) always verify manually.
- 100% recovery guarantee — if you forget the password, lose the device and have no Emergency Kit, recovery is not possible.
5. Prohibited behavior
- Reverse engineering or key extraction from devices other than your own.
- Storing content that violates Czech law (e.g. CSAM). Šanon is not intended for anonymization.
6. Paid features (IAP)
Version 1.0 is currently free. A public release with paid Premium Unlock features is planned for V2. The current version charges no fees.
7. Termination
You can uninstall the app at any time — all local data is removed. iCloud data can be deleted via iOS settings (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Šanon).
8. Limitation of liability
Šanon is provided "as is" without warranty. The operator is not liable for:
- Loss of data due to forgetting the password or simultaneously losing all devices.
- Costs associated with BYOK provider API keys.
- Cases where the AI provider misuses data you send them (see their privacy policy).
- Errors in automatically suggested categorization on critical documents.
9. Changes to the terms
If the terms change, the new version is shown on app launch and requires confirmation.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. Disputes are resolved in the competent court of the Czech Republic.
